Holiday Character Ideas Beyond Santa

Santa is still the booking most houses want, but the rooms that already have him — or can’t get the Saturday — should still start with our Santa character service and then add a second look so the night is not only a chair and a line.

This page is for the extra character, the escort at the door, and the visit that isn’t a mall Santa. The word you’re thinking of for the green one is in the body below. It stays out of the title on purpose.

Nutcrackers. Uniform, door, photo. Normal height for a house. Stilts for a lobby, a parade, or a ceiling that can take it. Two at an entrance is a corporate request we get every December. If that’s the look, book a nutcracker for your event on the same call as Santa so we don’t split a date you needed together.

Height without the uniform. Holiday stilts in other wardrobe still read from the back of a crowd. stilt walkers in South Florida work tree lightings and outdoor HOA nights when a sitting Santa would disappear behind the folding chairs.

The grouch in green. Families ask for him because the kids already know the story. He is a different energy than Santa — comic, a little rude, better when the ages can take a joke. If that’s the add-on, our Grinch visits are a separate costume and a separate performer. Don’t expect one person to change in your hallway between looks. Book the pair or book one.

Elves, Mrs. Claus, a snowman, a singing Santa — those are options when the house already has the chair and wants movement. They’re not a substitute if the kids were promised Santa and you swapped in a nutcracker without telling them. Say what the children were told.

Offices and restaurants use the extra characters because Santa is already on a house call that night. A nutcracker at the host stand still photographs. A sitting Santa in a 40-top at 7 p.m. may not be free. Ask what’s open. Don’t write the Instagram caption before the confirmation.

Schools that already used Santa on Friday sometimes want a nutcracker on the Monday assembly. That’s a good use of the extra character. Keep the scare off a preschool stage. Keep the grouch off a room that still has three-year-olds unless you warned the teachers. We’ll recast. We won’t argue with a director in the hallway.

Heat still matters in a South Florida December if the extra character is on stilts in a parking lot. Water, a rest point, a shorter walk. Indoor malls have AC and a ceiling. Outdoor HOAs have palms and a wind that will wreck a lightweight prop. Say which one it is.

December Saturdays still go first. Extra characters on those nights go with them. A Tuesday nutcracker is easier than a Saturday grouch.
