What Actually Happens During a Santa Visit at Home
The hesitation before a house visit is usually “what does he actually do,” so start with what a Santa visit includes and walk the hour before you promise the kids a time you can’t keep.
This is the living-room version. Not a mall line. Not a restaurant breakfast. A performer arrives in a window, stays in character, does photos and a gift handoff if you set that up, and leaves when the clock you booked is done.
Arrival. We text when we are close. Someone who is not the birthday kid should meet us at the door or the gate. Gated communities: put the name on the list. Townhouses: have a place to finish dressing that is not the front step. Santa doesn’t wander the block looking for the right house number in a beard.
The room. A chair that wipes. Light that is not only a TV. Space for one photo at a time so Grandma is not in the back of a pack. If you want paint while they wait, face painters for home parties sit at a different table, not on Santa’s knee. Keep pets in another room. Keep the dog off the costume.
Gifts: you buy them, you stage them, you tell us the first name and how you want the handoff. We don’t rummage under your tree guessing. If there is no gift, say so — photos and a short talk still work. If there are ten kids and ten bags, have a helper. Santa in character should not be your logistics intern.
How long it runs is the hour you booked. A short visit’s a walk-in, photos, a few names, out. A longer visit can add a story or a song if you asked for that performer. Don’t pad a 30-minute slot with a parade through every bedroom. Kids melt. Adults want the picture.
If you also want a hero on a different weekend, our other party characters wait until this date is locked. Don’t hold December Saturday for a maybe birthday in January.
Heat in a South Florida living room with the AC off for “atmosphere” is a bad idea. Keep the air on. Keep water for the performer. Keep the end time honest so the next house on the route is not sitting on a curb. We pack, we go, we don’t linger in the kitchen in a beard.
Have the date, start and end, address, gate code, ages, and whether gifts are part of it. Ask for Sean. Dade (786) 220-5686. Broward (954) 239-7244. Palm Beach (561) 293-3535. Say home visit, not a mall, so we send the right hour.
